Learning Groups
Alongside the group project, the learning groups are where you build real depth in one topic, together with a small group of students from your own profile. The project is about applying skills to a client's problem; the learning group is about understanding one topic properly, by exploring it yourself. Learning groups are one of the three pillars of the Responsible AI studio, next to the group project and Portflow.
You own this process. Your coach gives feedback and asks questions along the way, but does not deliver all the content for you.
What you do
In the learning group you:
- Explore one topic together with your group, rather than waiting for an explanation.
- Build a personal project (an explainer, or a project that uses the technology) that demonstrates, applies, compares or investigates what you learned.
- Give and receive feedback every week, in a fixed format, from your peers and your coach.
- Present your work at the end of each cycle, and learn from the topics the other groups explored.
How the track is organised
The track runs in two cycles. Each cycle has its own topic and its own artefact, and both cycles work in exactly the same way:

Within a cycle, the sprints are not treated differently. Every cycle follows the same three steps:
- First week: you choose your topic and start thinking about your artefact.
- Every following week: you work on your artefact and get feedback in the weekly session, so you can improve it.
- End of the cycle: you present your work.
A few rules apply throughout:
- Your group is single-profile. AI Engineers and Creative Technologists are never mixed in the same learning group, even though both profiles are in the same class. Everyone follows the same working method; only the topics differ.
- Your group stays with its topic for the whole cycle. You do not rotate topics within a cycle.
- A topic can only be chosen once per class. You coordinate with the other learning groups in your class before you confirm.
- The groups have already been formed. In the first week of a cycle you confirm or are allocated a topic.
